Valentia Technologies (NZ) Limited ("we", "us", "our") provides the Innovacare software that enables homecare providers to manage care services through the Innovacare Carer App ("the App").
We are a technology service provider. The homecare organisation that invited you to use this app ("Care Provider") is responsible for delivering care services and determining how client information is used.
We provide and maintain the technical platform that enables care providers to manage scheduling, care documentation, communication, and related services. In most cases, the Care Provider controls the personal information entered into the app and determines the purposes for which it is used. We process personal information on their behalf in order to operate and support the app.
Depending on how the Care Provider uses the app, we may process personal information relating to care recipients and carers. This may include names, contact details, addresses, appointment information, care requirements, health-related information, visit records, care notes, emergency contact details, and communications made within the App. For carers, this may also include roster information, employment or contractor details, and visit verification information.
We may also collect limited technical information automatically when the App is used, such as device type, operating system, IP address, usage data, and diagnostic information to maintain performance and security. If enabled by the Care Provider, the App may process location information for visit verification purposes.
We process this information only as necessary to provide and maintain the App and in accordance with our agreement with the Care Provider.
We use and process personal information to provide and operate the App, enable scheduling and care management functions, store and display care records, facilitate communication, maintain system security, improve reliability and performance, and comply with applicable legal obligations. If required information is not provided, some features of the app may not function properly.
We may disclose personal information to trusted third-party service providers who support the operation of the App, such as cloud hosting providers, infrastructure providers, technical support providers, and payment processors where applicable. We may also disclose information where required by law. We do not sell personal information. We require our service providers to implement appropriate safeguards to protect personal information.
Personal information is stored using secure systems and protected by reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to prevent loss, misuse, and unauthorised access or disclosure. Information may be stored in New Zealand or in other countries where our service providers operate. Where information is stored outside New Zealand, we take reasonable steps to ensure that it is subject to comparable privacy protections.
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide services to your Care Provider and to meet contractual, legal, and regulatory obligations. Your Care Provider determines the retention period for care records and related information. When information is no longer required, it is securely deleted or de-identified where practicable.
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, individuals have the right to request access to and correction of their personal information. If you are a care recipient or carer, you should contact the Care Provider in the first instance, as they are generally responsible for responding to such requests. You may also contact us, and we will assist where appropriate.
If you are not satisfied with the response to a privacy concern, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner in New Zealand.
Carer accounts may be deactivated by the Care Provider. Care recipients should contact their Care Provider regarding requests for deletion of personal information. We may retain certain information where required to comply with legal obligations or to fulfil our contractual responsibilities.
The App may request access to device features such as location services, camera, photos, or notifications in order to provide specific functionality. These permissions can be managed through your device settings. Location services are only used if enabled by the Care Provider and permitted by the user.
We may update this Privacy Statement from time to time. The current version will be made available within the App. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the updated statement.
